IBO Italia commitment in favour of the communities hit by the 2016 earthquake, continued also supporting young generations. In continuity with 2017 activities, three work camps involving 41 teenagers were organised as part of the LIGHTHEARTED SUMMER project – Animation and Solidarity Camps For Teenagers From Areas Hit By The Earthquake, sponsored by the Charity Fund and social-cultural actions of Intesa Sanpaolo.
Two camps were in Forli-Cesena province, in the National Park of Casentinesi Forests and one in the province of Parma, in the National Park of Tosco-Emiliano Appennine, with the presence of a Camp Leader, an educator and a psychologist.
The participants started a personal development pathway with non-formal educational activities, cooperation games and volunteering supporting local realities. Perceiving the changes, nature’s cyclicity and comparing it with one’s own growth and with life different steps, offered a positive imput to allow teenagers to project themselves towards the future without being afraid of it.
It takes so little to move something, to enter into the hearts of many people.
Promoting good forms of volunteering and active citizenship as a positive way to contrast juvenile distress and exclusion has always been one of IBO Italia’s main objectives.
The project “Volunteering for youth inclusion” sponsored by Youth Department and National Civil Service – Council of Ministers Presidency, offers the opportunity to live a few weeks in work camps to those who are usually cut off from these experiences.
This initiative avails itself of the cooperation of associations, communities, cooperatives, service to the person companies, in many different Italian provinces, to involve youngsters with economical and social family hardship situations. The project started in 2018 and will continue all 2019 long. It also schedules an intense training for Camp leaders that will act as volunteers’ coordinators.
